Finalists for Calgary’s 2018 Small Business Week Calgary Awards have been announced by the Calgary Chamber.
“This year we received over 200 applications across the award categories, with the entire business community represented. The Small Business Week Awards are a way to acknowledge the significant contribution the business community makes to our economy,” said Sandip Lalli, president and CEO of the Calgary Chamber.
Award winners will be announced on Oct. 19 at the Small Business Calgary Awards Gala, which takes place during Small Business Week Calgary – a week-long event celebrating small businesses.
“It is imperative in this rapidly evolving economy to be influencers and catalysts driving disruption and change; leaders in business know this, and we know this,” said Curtis Stange, ATB Financial president and CEO. “This is how we are going to ensure Alberta is an even better place to live and work for future generations.”
The Chamber said the Small Business Week provides an environment to nourish, power and inspire local entrepreneurs to take their products and services to the world.
During the gala, Hometown Hero Award and Indigenous Business Achievement Award will also be announced.
The Chamber said nominations were open to the public for these awards and businesses submitted comprehensive applications for judging. Each award was judged by a panel of external business leaders, with the exception of the KPMG People’s Choice Award, which was selected by popular vote.
